As we get into the full swing of summer Blacklight once again gets ready for a busy festival season and what a better way to start it with some sunny music videos! We’ve worked closely with the Cut Capers since last Boomtown festival on a new music video for their newest release, Live Today. Check it out below.
If you’re looking for a great Bristol band to dance to in the sun or just to cheer up any foul mood put on the Cut Capers and be sure to check out their new album “Say What”. Some great summer songs on there and they’ll be playing at festivals around the UK so check them out.
We also got a call to make a music video from a band who hasn’t released a single in 30 years. An incredibly influential ska band in the eighties we jumped at the opportunity to work with the Birmingham based 2-tone Ska band, The Beat. For their newest single we filmed with the vocalist, Ranking Roger across Bristol to create the long awaited return of The Beat with their first new single “Walking on the Wrong Side”. Ranking Roger was a pleasure to work with, bringing a fiery passion on camera that can only be found in these veteran musicians who live for their music give it a watch below!
After filming in the hot sun with musicians it was time for some non music related videos as we were contacted by the fantastic restaurant delivery service Deliveroo. The brief was to make a short video outlining a special event they were hosting at the wildly popular gelato shop on Park street, Bristol, The Swoon. The event would offer free ice cream on delivery between 3-5pm on Friday 17th June. The idea was to follow ice creams being created and delivered to hungry customers in the park over the course of a day. To follow the speedy Deliveroo riders in a fashion which looked great on film we brought on the help of the DJI Ronin.
This 4 axis gimbal allows the camera operator to achieve smooth steady tracking shots make maneuvers which can sometimes be too difficult for the commonly used steadicam. With our Ronin in hand we set off capturing the creation, delivery and reaction of this generous event. Check out the video below.
Deliveroo was very happy with what we had produced and the public was definitely excited for the event with the additional aid of the video to help with marketing. A lot of these past videos couldn’t of been done without the help of some great last minute freelancers. One of our directors, Max Phillips was admitted into hospital for Appendicitis days before two of these shoots and without our freelance network some of these videos would not have been possible. We are now happy to say Max is now back in action and raring to carry on with this summer’s exciting list of videos to come.
We’ve got some great ideas in the pipeline so be sure to watch this space and as always check out our facebook and twitter feed for updates as they come. Bring on Summer!
